Minutes of the Pack Committee

February 6, 2002

SUMMARY:

The Pack committee met on Wednesday evening, February 6, 2002 at 7pm to discuss upcoming pack events.

Topics discussed were as follows:

Treasurer’s Report

• Beginning balance on 1/1/02 was $4401.57

October transactions: $10.00 Picnic Refund Deposit

$27.00 P.R.A.Y. Refund Deposit

$-42.88 Manos family Refund (scout acct)

$-101.06 Mary Kinart Blue/Gold items

Ending balance on 1/31/02 was $4294.63

• Mary is working on updating each Scouts account. She will let Scouts/parents know when she has this information.

Old Business

• Their will not be a February Pack meeting since we are having the Blue and Gold Banquet on February 23^rd.
• Kirk getting microphone and podium to use in the gym during Blue and Gold Banquet.
• Awards Chair person still needed.
• Mary has reviewed all rosters and they are current and all paid up for registrations.

 

New Business

• Blue and Gold Banquet Update from Mary- Spoke with Mary Henre with the dancers for the evening and their will be between 10 and 20 dancers. Mary will talk to Nancy again to get a more precise number of dancers. Mary went over the invited guest list again to confirm everyone who needed to be invited had been as these dinners will be paid for by the Pack. Blue and Gold set-up will begin at 10am the morning of the 23^rd. Anyone welcome to come help set-up. All picture money needs to be turned in by the den leaders after they have collected from all of their scouts before Blue and Gold. All Blue and Gold reservations due to Mary by February 12^th. Scouts need to dress appropriately. Need to wear some type of blue pants. No wind pants, sweat pants, etc. Dana Thurman will present religious knots to the boys who have earned them. Lisa will also recognize some parents and honored guests during the evening.

• Kirk Doan received the District Award of Merit during the Leader Appreciation dinner in January.
• Lisa spoke with Cliff Uttley about getting more Den Chiefs. Will get them in the Spring sometime. After Den Chief training.

Roundtable Announcements

• (New) Leader Essential Training is March 2^nd at 9am

Leader Specific Training is March 2^nd at 12 noon in Raymore, MO

Leader Specific Training is also April 16^th at 6:30

• (Old) Day Camp for Wolves, Bears and Tigers will be June 17 thru

June 21, 2002.

• (Old) Scouting for Food will be April 20 , 2002
• (Old) April 12, early bird registration due for Day Camp
• (Old) Webelos naturalist activity badge to be worked on at the KC Zoo. Program dates: Feb. 13,14,16 March 20 April 23

Miscellaneous Items

• Diane made two "Thank You" cards for each boy to sign to give to the two car dealerships that donated to our Pinewood Derby goodie bags. Kirk’s Tigers have the cards first.
  
• The committee discussed doing an open house at the new elementary (Voy Spears) in the Fall to recruit new boys. Also maybe thought about talking to some the families of kindergartners here at Woods Chapel Church about signing up. Think about recruiting after the Blue and gold Banquet.

NEXT STEPS:

Prepare for upcoming Blue and Gold Banquet on February 23rd.

ACTION ITEMS/ISSUES:

• Kirk Get the podium and microphone to use in the gym for Blue

• Diane Make coloring picture copies for Blue and Gold

• Diane Get info. about a different type of Pack fundraiser for next

year. ( sell nuts, make/sell pizzas, etc.)

• Diane Plan activities for Scouts during pictures at Blue and Gold
• Bill Buy religious knots and devices for his Den.
• Ed Buy religious devices for his 4 Scouts
• Bill Follow up with Friends of Scouting about getting donation

cards prior to Blue and Gold Banquet

• Bill Contact Brad about Webelos Camp
• Bill Contact Howard Hoyt about booking Mic-O-Say dancers

for Blue and Gold banquet in 2003. Also complete
